How to Use Twitter Hashtags to Fill Your Virtual Event
Wed, 19/11/08 – 10:21 | 2 Comments

Last week, I held a teleclass to give a sneak preview of my Social Media Marketing Blueprint. At its peak, all 250 lines were maxed out. Originally scheduled for 75 minutes, the call took 90 minutes to complete.

It became a trending topic on Twitter Search, just underneath Obama and a girl named Anita. Here’s the screenshot from November 12, 2008:

And here’s a closer look at the list of trending topics on the right from Twitter Search:

How was I able to max out 250 lines and get people so excited that the teleclass is one of the most popular topics on Twitter?

I promised my sister that I would go meat free for the month of November. I already gave my account of how week 1 went. Here’s week 2.
I still haven’t given up the eggs and frankly, I don’t think I will. Everytime I eat them, my sister reminds me that I’m eating an undeveloped chicken [...]

I was reading a post by MaryPat Kavanagh on the 3 reasons why business owners would want to add social networking to their marketing strategy:

Visibility
Credibility
Cash Flow

All great reasons, but I would add one more - community. I’m not a huge fan of the word, but creating a place where you belong is another reason why [...]

Why Remembrance Day Matters
Tue, 11/11/08 – 10:48 | One Comment

November 11th is called Remembrance Day in Canada. In the US, it’s known as Veteran’s Day. Whatever day it’s called in your country, do take some time to honor those who are braver than you and I to leave behind all they know to face the ugliness of war.
It’s a sacrifice.
I watch on TV as [...]

Mon, 10/11/08 – 0:29 | 6 Comments

I just completed my first week as a vegan. After my sister gave me her summary of Skinny Bitch, I promised her that I wouldn’t eat any meat for the month of November.
The first week wasn’t as bad as I thought. I imagined that I would crave meat all week. That my mouth would salivate [...]

Why a Top Anything List Is an Excellent Blog Traffic Tactic

I was recently named as one of the Top 50 Most Powerful and Influential Women in Social Media and I believe I’m the only Canadian on the list, so this is a true honour.
The list that Ron Hudson put together generated just over 2000 unique visits and 189 comments in less than a week. The [...]

The Fastest Way to Lose Your Followers on Twitter
Wed, 1/10/08 – 12:14 | 22 Comments

Over the past few days, I’ve noticed a curious tactic that some Twitter users are employing to generate leads from this microblogging tool.
Whenever someone follows me, I follow them back. And then on first contact, they send a direct message to me (DM) that says:
“Thanks for the follow. I have a special bonus ebook for [...]
